DT Infrastructure has secured the contract to develop the Boulder Creek Wind Farm in central Queensland. DT Infrastructure is the Australian subsidiary of Malaysian infrastructure giant Gamuda Berhad.
The project owners – Aula Energy and CS Energy – awarded the contract to DT Infrastructure, one of Gamuda’s Australian businesses. It is the first renewable energy project that DT Infrastructure and Aula Energy will deliver together.
The Boulder Creek Wind Farm will comprise 38 turbines and have a generating capacity of 228 MW – contributing significantly to Queensland’s renewable energy targets.
DT Infrastructure was part of an ECI phase in preparation for Stage 1 of the project. It is now undertaking civil and electrical works to complete the wind farm by 2027.
‘We’re excited by the opportunity to work with Aula to help deliver Boulder Creek as part of their planned project portfolio across Australia,’ says DT Infrastructure Chief Executive Officer, John Anderson.
‘It was great to mark the occasion with representatives from Aula Energy and our parent company, Gamuda, in Kuala Lumpur, and to come together to discuss the vision for Boulder Creek.’
DT Infrastructure started construction in November 2024. The project will create up to 250 jobs while it’s being built. It will also support a range of environmental, social and net-zero initiatives in the region.
When complete, the Boulder Creek Wind Farm will comprise 38 turbines and have a generating capacity of 228 MW.
Kuala Lumpur-based Gamuda Berhad entered the Australian market in 2014. The company’s 4 business units – Gamuda, DT Infrastructure, Tunnelling Solutions and Gamuda Land – have delivered 50 major projects to date. Current projects include:
Gamuda’s Australian divisions employ more than 2,000 staff across 14 offices.
Australia’s infrastructure pipeline presents significant opportunities for growth, particularly in renewable energy, where large-scale projects are reshaping the sector.
DT Infrastructure leverages Gamuda’s global expertise to deliver transformative projects that not only strengthen critical infrastructure but also advance the transition to a more sustainable future. This focus is enabling DTI to expand its footprint, build lasting partnerships, and contribute to Gamuda’s strategic growth in key international markets.
Having won 3 tunnelling projects in Australia, Gamuda was exploring new investment prospects in Australia’s renewable sector. The company was initially interested in solar and battery projects.
Austrade teams in Australia and Malaysia worked together to provide Gamuda with information on the renewable energy sector. Austrade also made introductions to energy industry stakeholders and state government representatives to progress the investment.
Austrade played a pivotal role in supporting Gamuda’s entry and growth in the Australian infrastructure market, providing strategic market insights and connecting the company with pivotal stakeholders. This support facilitated Gamuda’s acquisition of DT Infrastructure, significantly expanding its footprint as a civil and engineering contractor in Australia.
