Australian and New Zealand agritech will underpin Yamaha Motor Co., Ltd’s global investment in precision agriculture.

In February 2025, Yamaha Motor launched a company called Yamaha Agriculture. The new business will focus on delivering autonomous equipment and AI-powered digital solutions to help growers become more sustainable, profitable and resilient.

Supporting sustainable farming

Yamaha Agriculture leverages the technologies of 2 acquired agritechs. Australia’s The Yield uses advanced data analytics and AI to optimise on and off-farm operations. New Zealand’s Robotics Plus offers an autonomous hybrid vehicle capable of multiple activities including spraying and weeding.

Yamaha Agriculture will integrate and scale these complementary technologies to create a precision farming platform. The platform is aimed at growers of wine grapes, apples and other specialty crops in North America, Australia and New Zealand.

By combining autonomous equipment with intelligent data insights, Yamaha Agriculture aims to help growers reduce input costs, optimise resource utilisation and improve overall farm productivity and sustainability.

‘With the launch of this new company, we aim to leverage Yamaha’s technological expertise to contribute to sustainable and profitable farming using a customer-centric approach,’ says Jim Aota, Chief Strategy Officer for Yamaha Motor. ‘Growers will be able to better address challenges around labour shortages, resource scarcity and impacts from climate change.’
