Nano Dimension sets up home in Sydney’s leading innovation hub

Nasdaq-listed Israeli scaleup Nano Dimension has opened its first office and 3D printing technology lab in Australia. The company will be based at a new tech hub for scaleups in Sydney. Its neighbours include some of Australia’s most innovative startups, companies and universities.

Australia’s top research and modern manufacturing capabilities

Nano Dimension is a provider of intelligent machines for the fabrication of additively manufactured electronics (AME). The company’s technology can be used to design and manufacture electronic devices that cannot be made with traditional manufacturing processes.

AME technology’s agile in-house production of fully functional electronics accelerates dramatically the time to market while retaining users’ sensitive IP.

‘We are using advanced 3D printing technologies to disrupt, reshape and redefine the future of electronics production,’ says Omer Tangi, Nano Dimension’s Australia Country Manager. ‘It’s an eco-friendly and intelligent on-demand process for manufacturing electronics.

‘As a company driven by innovation, setting up in Australia has been a natural move for us,’ he says. ‘Australia’s efforts and investment in research, modern manufacturing, and sustainability, together with its world-class leading universities, are a perfect fit for our vision and technology.

Nano Dimension will focus on business development and providing better support for existing customers in Australia. The company has five staff currently in Sydney and will scale up in the future.

Proximity to business, research organisations at Tech Central Sydney

Nano Dimension is one of seven companies based in the new Scaleup Hub at Tech Central Sydney. The hub offers private office suites, meeting rooms, event spaces and workspaces for companies scaling their operations. It is also a landing pad for international businesses entering the Australian market.

‘Being in the centre of an environment that not only offers you access to industry experts but also puts you in proximity to leading institutions such as the University of Technology Sydney, who is actually one of our first customers in Australia, will set you up for success,’ says Tangi.

Other Tech Central residents include Atlassian, Commonwealth Bank, Cicada Innovations and the University of Sydney.

How Austrade helped

Austrade has supported Nano Dimension’s Australian expansion plans since July 2021. The agency:

  • Provided introductions to Investment NSW to discuss state-level support and to explore the space in Tech Central Sydney
  • Recommended local institutions to invite to Nano Dimension’s launch at ElectroneX, a trade event
  • Shared information about doing business in Australia, and provided referrals to service providers
  • Provided travel updates and guidance about COVID-19 restrictions, visas and travel exemptions.

‘Austrade has supported us every step along the way,’ says Tangi. ‘From office space to legal services and industry connections, Austrade’s help has been valuable and meaningful. Their ongoing support has helped ease the move into our new home in Sydney. We are thankful to have Austrade’s assistance and guidance in our new adventure Down Under.’
