Latest Australian Critical Minerals Prospectus released

The Prospectus highlights 49 mines and 29 midstream projects across Australia.

The Australian Government has released the latest Australian Critical Minerals Prospectus, profiling projects that reflect the depth of critical minerals opportunities in Australia.

Critical minerals and rare earths projects are located in every corner of Australia and are vital for the production of clean energy, as well as for the defence industry.

The Prospectus showcases 78 projects across 60 companies, comprising 49 mines and 29 midstream processing projects ready for investment.

This February 2026 edition features a new section on Australia’s midstream capabilities. The 29 midstream projects add significant value to supply chains and reflect a clear investable pipeline that goes beyond mining.

Australia’s critical minerals capability

Australia is home to some of the world’s largest reserves of critical minerals, including lithium, cobalt and rare earths. We are a world leader in resources exploration, extraction, production and processing. Our industry has a reputation for safety, high labour standards, First Nations engagement and environmental responsibility.

There is strong support for critical minerals projects in Australia. The Australian Government provides direct support through the A$1.2 billion Critical Minerals Strategic Reserve, the A$4 billion Critical Minerals Facility and the Critical Minerals Production Tax Incentive.
